A bizarre shooting in an upscale neighborhood has police trying to figure out who pulled the trigger.
A man was shot in broad daylight in Franklin's Polk Place subdivision. What makes this story even more strange is the victim didn't know he had been shot until he got to the hospital.
Franklin police say a 48-year-old contractor from Nashville was working outside of a home on Grove Lane when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back. He was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered he had been shot with a small caliber bullet.
Investigators have not released the victim's name yet. But, we're told he was taken to Williamson Medical Center on Sunday afternoon by coworkers. He was then transferred to a trauma unit at Vanderbilt in serious condition. But, police say he was lucky. No vital organs were hit and he has since been released from the hospital.
Neighbors said they suspect the shot came from a wooded area in front of the home. Police were investigating Monday morning but would not say what area they were focusing on.
