NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police said they pulled over a driver early Wednesday for a broken tail light, only to discover he was driving a stolen car with a bag of stolen items inside.

Plus, it turns out the stolen Chevy Suburban belongs to a NASCAR legend.

Jacques Prewitt, 24, is accused of breaking into two dozen cars at an Aamco repair shop on Gallatin Pike. Police say he stole cell phones, an iPod and some change before fleeing in a stolen SUV belonging to NASCAR driver Sterling Marlin.

Marlin, of Columbia, reported to police over the weekend that his vehicle had been stolen.

Prewitt is charged with vehicle theft and motor vehicle burglary.
