CHATTANOOGA (UTC/WRCB) -- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestler Levi Clemons was added to the NCAA Championship field of 33 for the 174-pound weight class on Thursday.
The sophomore is the only Mat Moc to receive an at-large bid to the national tournament. Clemons was not included in the original brackets that were announced Wednesday, but a withdrawal from one of the qualifying participants opened a spot.
Clemons placed third at last week's Southern Conference championships. He was 21-14 overall and will be making his first trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Clemons will be joined at the NCAA Championships by Chattanooga's four automatic qualifiers: freshman Nick Soto (133), junior Dean Pavlou (149) and seniors Dan Waddell (157) and Brandon Wright (165).
Those four grapplers clinched their spots in the field by winning SoCon individual titles last week.
Chattanooga won the 2012 SoCon Championships last weekend, their 26th in school history. UTC went 12-6 in the regular season, finishing second in the SoCon with a 5-1 league mark.
