NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The National Weather Service confirmed that at least two tornadoes struck Middle Tennessee Friday night.

At least 20 people were injured and at least 170 homes and businesses were damaged, according to local authorities.

Statewide, 45 people were injured, according to the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the March 2nd storms.

Some of the worst losses were reported along the Cumberland Plateau region, where the National Weather confirms an EF2 twister hit. The Jackson County sheriff said it was nothing short of a miracle that no one was seriously injured or killed in the Dodson Branch community.

Sheriff Brad Stafford said four people had to be rescued after becoming trapped in the debris. Stafford said a total of 20 people were treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The sheriff said the number of homes damaged was expected to continue to rise, as emergency crews and inmates from the county jail cut up trees and cleared roads.

In Kingston Springs, fire crews estimated at least 100 homes and businesses suffered some kind of damage. NWS officials confirm an EF1 struck the area.

Putnam County Emergency Management officials said a church and a barn suffered minor damage in the area of Fairview Road and Thomas Allen Road near the Jackson County line.

In the meantime, people in that area are urged to stay inside and off the roads due to downed power lines and trees.

No fatalities have been reported as a result of these storms.

Currently, the Red Cross is responding to tornado-related damage in Jackson, Overton, Montgomery and Dickson counties.

Crews from the National Weather Service will be surveying damage across Tennessee to determine if and where any tornadoes actually touched down, but the Dickson County Office of Emergency Management reported multiple structures damaged after a possible tornado touched down around 4 p.m. near the city of Dickson.

In the Metro Nashville area, several Channel 4 viewers reported wind and hail damage across Davidson and the surrounding counties.

Channel 4 is compiling an up-to-the-minute list of damage reports from across the area. To view the list, visit: http://www.wsmv.com/story/17067177/damage
