SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - The Southern Conference coaches have selected Davidson sophomore forward De'Mon Brooks the player of the year and Wildcats coach Bob McKillop as coach of the year.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga was shut out of the postseason awards. The Mocs enter the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament as the No. 6 seed from the North Division after going 5-13 in league play.

Brooks ranks fourth in the league in scoring at 15.8 points per game and ninth in rebounding with 6.3 rebounds per contest. He also ranks sixth in the league in field goal percentage (.533).

Davidson's leading scorer and rebounder this season, Brooks scored at least 20 points in nine games this year, including a season high of 26 at The Citadel on Feb. 9.

For McKillop, it's his seventh coach of the year honor. The Wildcats (22-7) finished first in their division eight times in the past 11 seasons under McKillop.

They enter the Southern Conference postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed.
