NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two young girls have been recovered by authorities in Maryland and are safe after an Amber Alert was issued early Wednesday in Van Buren County.

Van Buren County sheriff's officials and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation initiated the alert for Summer Knasel, 3, and her 4-year-old sister Lovell.

Investigators said the girls were abducted by their non-custodial parents Jeremy Knasel, 32, and Ashley Norberg, 24.

Knasel and Norberg are now in police custody.

According to a message on the TBI's website, the girls were taken from their parents earlier this month after officers discovered that their parents were manufacturing methamphetamine in their house.

No other details on the search or the girls' safe recovery have been released.
