HENDERSONVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
There are safety changes in the works for Vietnam Veterans Boulevard in the wake of a deadly 50-car pileup last December.
Sumner County officials have asked the Tennessee Department of Transportation to extend the guardrail at the Saundersville Bridge.
They have also asked for additional signs warning that the bridge ices before the road and more marking on the pavement.
The pileup left two people dead.
Freezing fog and icy roads were reported in the area at the time, and officials say they hope the safety changes would help avoid a similar tragedy.
