Woman accused in Gallatin after-school program embezzlement

GALLATIN, TN (WSMV) -

A worker at an after-school program is accused of taking money meant for the kids and buying personal items for herself.

Lisa Merryman is accused of embezzling more than $18,000 from KIDZ Zone, an after-school program at Union Elementary in Gallatin.

Police said Merryman deposited checks made out to the program into her personal bank account.

Merryman surrendered herself to police Monday.

Detectives said the case is ongoing and more charges could be filed.
