NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police say a driver asleep behind the wheel crossed the center line and crashed head-on with another car, critically injuring its teenage driver, Tuesday on Highway 70 in Bellevue.

The wreck was reported at 12:22 p.m. in the 8300 block of Highway 70 near Charlotte Pike.

Dylan Boldus, 18, of Charlotte, TN, was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition after police say a car driven by William Graves, 33, of Charlotte, TN, crossed into the path of Boldus' car.

Police say Graves indicated he had fallen asleep behind the wheel just before the crash. He was also taken to Vandy and later released from the hospital.

Boldus remains in critical condition Wednesday morning.

Police say there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.

Both directions of Highway 70 were closed for nearly three hours while emergency crews responded at the scene.
