A Metro councilman has resigned his position with the state Books from Birth Foundation after he was arrested Thursday for allegedly patronizing prostitution.

Councilman Brady Banks, 33, was among three men arrested Thursday on charges of patronizing prostitution during a sting at a motel in the Metro Center area.

Banks allegedly met the officer just after 4:30 p.m. while responding to an ad posted by the police department on the Internet.

A spokesperson for the Governor said Friday that Banks resigned effective immediately as Acting Officer/Outreach Director of the Governor's Books from Birth Foundation.

Also arrested during the undercover operation Thursday was Matthew Moynihan, 38, of Hendersonville, founder of Sumner United, a Tea Party group based in Hendersonville.

Jyotin Arora, 37, of Hermitage, was also arrested Thursday during the sting.

All three men were jailed on $1,000 bond each.
