ASHLAND CITY, TN (WSMV) -
A gas leak at East Cheatham Elementary caused a brief delay to the start of classes Monday morning.
A faulty igniter on a roof mounted HVAC unit would not allow the unit to light at 5:30 a.m., causing a smell of gas inside the building.
Students were taken to a different school until maintenance crews could fix the problem and heat could be turned on.
By 8:30 a.m., the problem was repaired and students were allowed to return to the school.
