Geraldo Rivas has been charged with attempted murder for the stabbing of Karen Woodard.
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Metro police have arrested a man suspected in the stabbing of a 53-year-old woman Monday morning in East Nashville.
SLIDESHOW
Geraldo A. Rivas, 57, faces a charge of attempted murder for stabbing his girlfriend, Karen Woodard, 53, multiple times at a residence on Cleveland Street.
A neighbor called 911 after Woodard banged on the adjoining wall of the duplex for help. The fire department responded to the home and forced its way into the residence.
Police say Rivas left the duplex around midnight, and neighbors in the area did not see him return.
Rivas was later arrested in the rear parking lot of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard.
Woodward was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with an abdominal stab wound that apparently resulted from a domestic dispute, said police.
According to police, Rivas has a lengthy arrest history that reflects multiple convictions for crimes including aggravated assault, vehicle theft, unlawful weapon possession, burglary and patronizing prostitution.
