NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A mix of light snow and rain is moving into Middle Tennessee tonight from the southwest, but no significant accumulation is expected, as temperatures in most places remain slightly above freezing.
Just a trace of snow is expected for most of Middle Tennessee but up to a half-inch could fall in Southern Kentucky, according to the 4WARN Weather Team.
TIMELINE
Light snow and sleet is expected to fall in the western counties of the region around 4-6 p.m., Nashville around 6-8 p.m. and the Cumberland Plateau around 8-10 p.m.
Initially, most areas are expected to get light snow, then after midnight, the snow is expected to change to all rain. During the period of light snow, temperatures should remain above freezing, discouraging any accumulation.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation is laying down brine on the interstates Monday morning, according to spokeswoman Deanna Lambert. Crews will later apply brine to the state routes, and any other roads when needed.
Lambert said that TDOT has used 200 tons of salt this year compared to this time last year when it had used 10,000 tons.
