Officials have identified the human remains discovered last weekend behind an Antioch apartment complex.

The skeletal remains were positively identified through dental records as those of missing person Olotu Gbasin, 20.

Gbasin lived on Owendale Drive, which is near the site where the remains were found near Hamilton Creek Apartments along Hamilton Church Road and Murfreesboro Road.

Police say some children were playing outside in the area Saturday when they discovered the bones. The children showed their parents, who immediately called police.

Officers roped off the area and stayed on the scene through Sunday morning to make sure no one tampered with the scene.

Police say Gbasin had been reported missing by his brother on the night of Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, after not being seen nor heard from since the previous Friday, Oct. 14.

The cause of Gbasin's death is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about Olotu Gbasin is urged to contact Metro Police Detective Lee Freeman at 862-7329.
