NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Family and friends are remembering a Nashville mother this weekend who was killed after someone fired shots into her home.

The deadly shooting happened Tuesday night around 6 p.m. at her house on Haynes Street in North Nashville.

There was a candlelight vigil in memory of Tonya Ross, 43, Saturday night where she was gunned down. Ross was sitting in her bed, at the home she shared with her elderly parents and her brother when someone fired five shots. Ross was hit in the head. The rest of her family was not hurt.

Metro Police still don't know why the Ross residence was targeted. One thing investigators are sure of, they were not random bullets.

Now, Ross's four children, and her extended family are left to grieve, wondering why anyone would want to hurt their beloved Tonya.

Police need your help finding the person responsible for her murder. If you have any information call, Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME. You don't have to leave your name and you could be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
