Michelle Delk, 42, of Portland, TN, died after the Pontiac Grand Am in which she was riding attempted to cross oncoming traffic and was struck while turning into the medical center, according to Metro Police.

Emily Boyer, 22, of Portland, was driving the vehicle and received non-critical injuries. Boyer is Delk's niece, police said.

At least two other vehicles were involved in the collision, and each of the seven occupants in those vehicles, including two children, were not injured.

Police say there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement in this crash, and the contributing factor appears to be Boyer's failure to yield.
