First female Supreme Court justice speaks at MTSU

Middle Tennessee State University's Hinton Music Hall was packed for Wednesday night's lecture by former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

The former justice told stories about her humble upbringing on a Texas ranch and her experience on the high court.
   
In 1981, President Ronald Reagan named her associate justice to the Supreme Court.
   
For 24 years, O'Connor often cast the tie-breaking vote on rulings that shaped America.
   
Her presentation included insight into the inner-workings of the high court as well as her personal feelings about the cases considered.
