Two Nashville women are helping food lovers experience something new to tickle their taste buds while also highlighting the city's delicious and diverse food scene.
Paulette Licitra is a chef and culinary instructor that takes small groups of people to some interesting food places in Nashville.
In addition to teaching small cooking classes in her Bellevue home, she and Annakate Tefft, a local food blogger, hosts Alimentum Eat and Greet Tours, a culinary and cultural canvass of places unique to Nashville.
"We're doing these eat and greet tours to bring people to parts of Nashville they may not know about and to sample foods they may not have had before," Licitra said.
A recent tour showcased the international offerings found on Nolensville Road. Another tour took participants to a Middle Tennessee Farm for a true "farm to table" experience.
The tour's name, Alimentum, comes from the Latin for nourishment. Licitra sees the tours as food for the body and mind.
"We call them eat and greet because on the tour you get to eat something you probably haven't ever had before or maybe are wanting to have again. But then you're also with a group of other like-minded people who like to explore different cuisines and like to explore what Nashville has to offer," Licitra said.
There's an Indian culture tour this weekend and next weekend is an east Nashville artisan tour.
The tours are $95 a person and include transportation, lunch and any entrance fees.
