PLEASANT VIEW, TN (WSMV) -
Police are investigating why two men set a car on fire near Interstate 24 in Robertson County Tuesday afternoon.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer Dale Grandstaff was driving from Clarksville to Nashville at around 4 p.m. He exited the interstate and then saw two men running from a vehicle just as it exploded.
The men fled the scene in another car, a white Volvo headed east on I-24.
Grandstaff followed the vehicle and tried to get a tag number. They exited near Pleasant View, TN, made a left onto Highway 41a, crossed oncoming traffic and threw items out of the window, said police.
Pleasant View police started pursuing them as well and eventually stopped and arrested the driver, identified as Chad Milele, 33, of Wilson County and his passenger, 53-year-old Randall Dixon of Nashville.
Milele told police the burned vehicle was his girlfriend's car and it caught fire while trying to hot wire it.
