OAK GROVE, KY (WSMV) -
Police in Oak Grove, Ky., said a 6-year-old boy has now died after being attacked by a small German Shepherd Sunday night.
The child was playing in the backyard at a the home of a family friend when the attack occurred.
The child was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he later died.
Oak Grove police Lt. Adam Vanderkolk said the boy suffered a lot of trauma to his facial area.
Oak Grove Animal Control has the German Shepherd in custody along with two other dogs that were in the home.
Police are investigating the incident. There were no reports of trouble with the animal in the past, according to Vanderkolk.
