The family of a pilot who crashed a plane in Smyrna is suing the company that made the autopilot system for wrongful death.
Roc Abou-Sakher died when the plane he piloted crashed last March into a field right by a church in Smyrna.
The lawsuit claims the pilot was on a maintenance flight after the installation of the new autopilot and avionics system and that system would not allow Abou-Sakher to take control of the aircraft before it crashed.
The pilot's widow and five children are suing the equipment makers, Garmin and S-Tec, and the Smyrna Air Center, which installed the equipment.
