MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Wedding dresses that have been put away for safekeeping and not normally seen by the public will be on display for a month at Oaklands Historic House Museum in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The exhibit, "Wedding Dresses Through the Decades," traces the brocade and satin of the 1870s to the wartime suits in the 1940s. Some of the dresses are part of the museum collection.
The free display, from Sunday to Feb. 15, is being done in partnership with the Human Sciences Department of Middle Tennessee State University.
The museum is a nationally registered historic landmark that reflects prosperity in the Old South and hardships during the Civil War.
