NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police have fired decommissioned officer Jeffrey Poole following his arrests last year on sex crimes and aggravated child abuse charges.

Poole was terminated Wednesday after he did not appear for a department hearing on his charges.

He had been accused of several instances that he had sexually assaulted four women, three of them with prostitution histories, while on duty.

Also, Poole was charged in December with child abuse after his 16-year-old son said he was struck in the head several times with a sports trophy.

Metro police say Poole has the right to appeal the termination.

Poole was decommissioned in May 2010 and ordered to stay away from police department facilities as a result of the sex crimes investigation.
