NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man who pleaded guilty to killing and burning his girlfriend in 2010 will spend four decades in prison.

Adrian Henry pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors said Henry strangled his 22-year old girlfriend, Saret Vit, then burned her body in a field near the intersection of Brick Church Lane and Knight Road in August 2010.

Vit had been killed by strangulation, and her body was so badly burned that she had to be identified through dental records, officials said.

Investigators say Henry had been the last person seen with her, and when police questioned him, he had burns on his face and hands, and scratches on his chest and back.
