NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A 9-year-old boy who was adopted from Russia by a Shelbyville woman and later sent back alone on a plane has found a new home.
The case sparked international debate.
According to the Russia state news agency, Artyom Savelyev has been adopted by a woman in a tiny Russian village. The woman is part of a special adoption program and currently raising 16 other children.
The adoptive mother says the boy is well behaved, doing well in school and fits in well with the other children.
Two years ago, Shelbyville resident Torrey Hansen put the boy on a flight back to Moscow and said he had mental problems.
An adoption agency sued Hansen, claiming she abandoned the boy. No trial date has been set.
