NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A company known for running charter schools in Arizona now wants to open some here. Great Hearts Academies wants to launch as many as 10 charter schools in Davidson County.

The group currently runs a dozen schools in Arizona with a focus on a classical, liberal arts curriculum. It boasts that 95 percent of their graduates go on to attend a four-year college.

There will be two community meetings next week for prospective students and parents.

One is Wednesday, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Cohn Adult Learning Center on Park Avenue.

The second will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Martin Professional Development Center on Fairfax Avenue.

If approved, the first Great Hearts Academy would open in the fall of 2013.
