Four children lost their mother in a double-murder that Clarksville police worked through the weekend trying to solve. Someone shot Amanda Weyand and her roommate, Derrick Sherden, in their Main Street home Friday night. Now, Weyand's family is asking whoever is responsible to come forward.
"I know she's with Jesus," said Marilyn Smith, mother of Weyand. "That's what I've got to tell her 3-year-old."
For days, Smith has been leaning on her pillars of strength, 17-year-old Tony and his 11-year-old brother Randy. With the passing of Weyand, Smith lost a daughter while Tony and Randy lost a mom.
"She was a good person," said Smith. "She had a heart of gold. She never met a stranger. She never said a bad word to anyone about anyone. She was always trying to lift them up."
Weyand's family said they didn't know Sherden very well, only that Weyand had been staying with him and they'd known each other for about a month. Sherden's family lives in the Chicago area and told Channel 4 Sherden loved life and was the father of a 3-year-old son. They added Sherden and Weyand had been dating. The cause of Friday's homicides is still unknown.
As for Smith, she said she's desperate for answers about what happened to her daughter, a mother not only to Tony and Randy but also to two little girls aged 6 and 3.
"If you know any information, I really wish you'd come forward because my four grand kids need closure," said Smith. "I need closure. My family needs closure. It's not right to kill someone especially when they're innocent."
The family of Amanda Weyand has set up a memorial fund at Bank of America. The money is going toward Weyand's four children.
