Metro officer hit by car

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Metro police officer was rushed to Vanderbilt Hospital after being hit by a car near the Nashville Airport on Saturday.

The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. on Murfreesboro Road near Donelson Pike.

According to police spokesman Don Aaron, Officer Brent Hoadley was hit while directing traffic around a crash.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.  Police now say that he is stable.

Hoadley is a six-year veteran with the police department.

Police said that charges are pending against the driver who hit Hoadley.

According to Aaron, the driver told officers that he was suffering a medical problem when the collision occurred.
