Hickory Hollow moving forward without anchor tenants

Posted: Updated:

Now that Macy's has announced it is closing its store at Hickory Hollow Mall, no anchor tenant remains at the Antioch shopping center.

Hickory Hollow has been in trouble for years, and now many are wondering if it has a future, but it looks like the mall's best chance at survival is now in Metro's hands.

Macy's announced Wednesday that it will close its store there. And last week, Sears announced it will also shut down later this year.

Metro Councilwoman Jacobia Dowell says the city is aggressively moving forward with plans to keep the mall alive, by housing a regional community center and library in another closed-down anchor store, the old JC Penney.

And Nashville State Community College plans to start a satellite campus in the old Dillard's building beginning in Fall 2012.
