Glitch for Music City's New Year's Eve celebration

Posted: Updated:

The new year didn't exactly go as planned for the city's annual celebration downtown. At the stroke of midnight, there was a bit of a glitch.

You can only imagine the laughs as tens of thousands of people packed downtown Music City for the "Bash on Broadway." As revelers counted down the last seconds until the new year, they witnessed the much anticipated and talked about Music Drop, which didn't drop all the way. And believe it or not, the same problem happened last year.

The Guitar Drop got stuck as party goers were ringing in 2011. And for 2012, the same glitch happened with the music note.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was on stage and still played their legendary anthem Free Bird right at the stroke of midnight. Butch Spyridon with the Nashville Visitor and Convention Bureau says they're already working out those kinks from this year and making sure next year goes off without a hitch.

The good news is the "Bash on Broadway" was a huge success for Music City, with more than 50,000 people packed into Riverfront Park for the party.
