SHELBYVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Two children are among five people injured in a crash Monday evening involving a sport utility vehicle in Bedford County.

The wreck occurred around 3 p.m. on Highway 41 South and Normandy Road near Shelbyville.

Police said the driver of the SUV, Elizabeth Speegle, 34, of Shelbyville tried to pass a truck hauling a livestock trailer on a sweeping curve in Bedford County.

The two children, Elizabeth Shae Gant, 6, and Carter Gant Jr., were ejected from the SUV, according to the Shelbyville Times Gazette.

LifeFlight transported the children to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. Three adults in the SUV were also injured and transported by ambulance to Harton Regional Medical Center.

Speegle was cited for not using child safety seats.
