FORT CAMPBELL, KY (WSMV) -

A Fort Campbell soldier and Afghanistan war veteran will spend 15 years in prison for killing his wife.

Court martial proceedings for Spc. Robert Jenks III resulted in a voluntary manslaughter conviction.

Prosecutors said Jenks pushed, choked, and stabbed his 21-year-old wife, Linzi, at their Fort Campbell home in December 2010.

Channel 4's news partners at the Leaf Chronicle report that the court martial panel agreed with the defense claim that Jenks killed his wife in a fit of rage and didn't plan the crime.
