2 men arrested in Madison stabbing, Joelton robbery

Metro police say they have linked two men to a Madison stabbing and a Joelton business robbery Sunday night.

One incident occurred at the The Great Escape on Gallatin Pike in Madison, during which a clerk was stabbed, and the other at a Family Dollar on Whites Creek Pike in Joelton.

Convicted robber James Coss, 23, and Parolee Dusty Krantz, 25, were arrested and charged.

Coss allegedly entered The Great Escape at 7 p.m. and began asking employee Christopher Hargrow questions about memorabilia before demanding cash at knifepoint.  During a struggle with the suspect, Hargrow, 36, was stabbed.

When a second employee intervened, Coss fled the store empty handed.  Hargrow was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

Around 8 p.m., a man fitting Coss' description robbed two employees at knifepoint at Family Dollar.  According to witnesses, the suspect got into the passenger side of a gray Chevrolet Impala with front end damage.

Just after midnight, police stopped the suspected getaway car in the 100 block of Gallatin Pike.  Coss and Krantz, who was driving the Impala, were both taken into custody.  Coss was positively identified as the man who robbed The Great Escape.

Coss, of Hermitage, is charged with attempted homicide and aggravated robbery for his suspected involvement in The Great Escape hold-up.  He was convicted of aggravated robbery in 2007 and is being held on $210,000 bond.

Krantz is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery for his alleged involvement in the Family Dollar incident.  He has prior convictions for manufacturing methamphetamine, arson and theft.  Krantz remains jailed on $150,000 bond.
