Dickens of a Christmas this weekend in Franklin

Posted: Updated:

Franklin's Main Street takes a step back in time to the Victorian era this weekend during the 26th annual Dickens of a Christmas festival.

More than 250 costumed characters bring to life A Christmas Carol and other tales of Charles Dickens. The festival is free and open to the public.

Visitors to downtown Franklin over the course of the weekend are sure to meet Ebenezer Scrooge, his unfortunate partner Marley, little Tiny Tim Cratchit, Father Christmas and many more.

There are several Dickens-related events in the downtown Franklin area during the festival, including Studio Tenn's production of A Christmas Carol at Franklin Theatre, Oliver at the Factory's Boiler Room Theatre and high tea at Marcia's Patisserie, Lillie Belle's and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

The festival on Main Street in downtown Franklin is sponsored by The Heritage Foundation. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

For a complete entertainment schedule, go to the Heritage Foundation's website or call the Heritage Foundation at 615-591-8500.
