RALEIGH, NC (WRCB) -- Highly-touted running back Isaiah Crowell was the crown jewel of Georgia's "Dream Team" recruiting class in 2011.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs may have found the centerpiece the 2012's version 2.0.
North Carolina prep standout Keith Marshall, who is ranked by most recruiting services as the top running back in the country, gave his verbal commitment to UGA. He chose the Bulldogs over Clemson, Florida and South Carolina.
Marshall, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound speedster, has been clocked at a sub-4.3 in the 40-yard dash. He rushed for 1,891 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior this past season at Raleigh's Millbrook High. Over the past three years he's rushed for more than 3,500 yards and scored 54 touchdowns.
Crowell was the top-ranked recruit according to most services in 2011, meaning Marshall's signature on National Signing Day in February would give the Dawgs the nation's top running back recruit in back-to-back years.
Like Crowell a year ago, Marshall is slated to play in the Under Armour All-American Bowl in January.
Georgia now has 16 commitments for the 2012 class.
