Police on lookout for stranger who chased 9-year-old girl

Posted: Updated:

A mother is putting her neighborhood on alert after a terrifying moment when her 9-year-old daughter came running into the house saying a man had pulled over his truck and chased her down the street.

"She's doing a little better," Jequitta Hoosier of Clarksville said. "She was scared to get on the bus this morning, but other than that, she's doing okay."

Hoosier said her 9-year-old daughter Jakita was walking home on their street when she noticed a man in a truck following behind her. Jakita kept walking, turning around to see that man was now out of the truck and was chasing her.

"One of her shoes came off," Hoosier said. "She took the other one off and started running and screaming. When she got up to my porch, the guy got back in his truck and drove off. It was very terrifying. I was just shocked. It happened so fast."

Hoosier said her main concern is that something like this could happen in her neighborhood. She said the area is home to about 40 children.

This mom of four said she's doing her part to band the neighborhood together.

"I contacted a few people yesterday and told them about it, so everyone's on the lookout," Hoosier said.

She's also requested for police to do extra patrol around Treeland Drive. Hoosier said she's trying anything to make her daughter feel safe again and for the sake of the neighborhood, she's hoping to hear of an arrest.

Police describe the suspect as a white male with black hair driving a red truck. Hoosier said the man is in his 20s or 30s
