A small Nashville business is booming with sweet success in a time of economic turmoil.
Sweet Creations operates out of the basement of 15th Avenue Baptist Church, and the owners said their success has been heavenly.
About a decade ago, Barbara Toms said she began taking her mother's old recipe for pecan pie and creating her own pies.
The desserts were a hit with friends. Then about a year ago, a Mapco executive got a taste of one of the pies.
Now Toms and her business partner Herman Patton are selling thousands of the pies to nearly 100 Mapco stores.
"This is an awesome time for us in the midst of negative talk about the recession. This is our time of plenty, " Toms said.
Toms and her handful of workers make about 1,200 pies per week in the church basement.
They also give lots of pies away to non profit groups and individuals.
They hope their pies will eventually go global.
