Pharmacist will spend 1 day in jail for selling drugs

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Nashville pharmacist will spend a day in jail for selling drugs without giving out prescriptions for their distribution.

On Tuesday, a Metro judge sentenced Glenn Brooks to a day of incarceration and two years of supervised release.

Brooks must forfeit nearly $500,000 and pay almost $88,000 to the IRS for filing false tax returns. According to the U.S. Attorney, Brooks bought hydrocodone and Lortab pills and sold many of them for cash.

A spokesman for the prosecutor's office says the sentence took into account Brook's age and his failing health. He is currently 74 years old.
