Mt. Juliet motorcyclist injured in I-40 wreck

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash at Interstate 24 and 40 near Spence Lane and Elm Hill Pike Friday morning.

The wreck occurred at exit 213A at 10:10 a.m.

Police said Gary Spruill, 50, of Mt. Juliet, may have been following too close to the van while riding on his Harley Davidson.  The van was slowing down at the time, and Spruill collided with the van's left taillight.

Spruill received serious head injuries and is hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The wreck was cleared by 12:15 p.m.
