GALLATIN, TN (WSMV) -
Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty of a woman accused of killing her newborn twins, according to a news release on Thursday.
District Attorney Ray Whitley said the state will not seek the death penalty in the case against Lindsey Lowe, who was indicted this week by the Sumner County grand jury.
Lowe was indicted on two counts of first degree murder, two counts of first-degree premeditated murder and two counts of aggravated child abuse.
Each of the first degree murder counts carries with it the potential of a life sentence. The two counts of aggravated child abuse carry the potential of 15-25 years each.
The district attorney has called 15 witnesses, including Lowe's parents, who will be asked to testify against their daughter.
Lowe remains out on bond, despite a violation of terms when valium was found in her system. Her parents said they sedated her during the boys' funeral because she was getting hysterical.
Lowe will be arraigned on Nov. 18 in Sumner County Criminal Court.
