Franklin County High School was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon while law enforcement responded to reports of an individual being on campus who was not a current student or employee.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office say the suspect, a former Franklin County High School student who has not been identified, was later located off-campus during a traffic stop and placed under arrest by Decherd police.
The sheriff's office said they and Winchester Police Department personnel had arrived at the school around 2 p.m. to conduct a search for the suspect after a current student reported receiving threats from the accused individual.
Authorities say that after reviewing surveillance video, the person accused of issuing the alleged threats was actually present in the school building at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
No other details on the alleged threats were immediately available, and the school's lockdown was lifted after law enforcement said the situation was under control.
They say criminal charges are expected against the suspect.
