The Occupy Nashville protesters are getting some competition. A group says the economic problems facing the country aren't financial, they're spiritual.
The organizers say they have a simple solution - divine intervention, and they're trying to get church groups to "Occupy the Altar."
You have seen the groups of protesters at Legislative Plaza, but you likely have not seen the prayers taking place nearby.
"What brings me out here is I prayed about this situation, and the Lord laid it on my heart," John Stefanski said.
It is a simple concept. As the political protest unfolds, a smaller one is as well.
"As a nation we need to humble ourselves before God. Ask for his forgiveness," Stefanski said.
Stefanski runs a small business in Murfreesboro, but now every morning he holds a sign at the steps of Legislative Plaza: 'My Message Is Simple Jesus Is The Answer,' it says.
He says his Occupy the Altar movement has growing support.
"The only thing that can heal our situation is prayer," he said.
