First Tennessee backs off debit card fee plan

Posted: Updated:

You can add First Tennessee Bank to the list of financial institutions backing down from those new debit card fees for customers.

In a public posting on the bank's Facebook page, First Tennessee officials notified customers that they will not implement the planned fees.

First Tennessee was going to charge users per swipe up to $3 per month beginning October 22, but they say no customer was ever charged.

Bank of America also backed off its monthly debit card fee plan Tuesday.

Regions, Wells Fargo, and JP Morgan Chase all made similar moves earlier this week.
