Monday's recipe (10/31/11) - Aimee Fortney's crock pot candy, chocolate hazelnut orange tart

Posted: Updated:

This delicious recipe is from my Grandmother Jackson.  This stuff is so good, you are going to love it, and you will not believe how simple it is to make, and how quickly it disappears!  This makes a great gift!

16 ounce container of salted roasted peanuts
16 ounce container of unsalted roasted peanuts
1 bar Sweet German chocolate
12 ounce bag of milk chocolate chips
1 whole pack almond bark chocolate

Layer in a crock part in order as written.  Cook on low for 2 hours.  Stir, drop on parchment paper.  Allow it to set up at room temperature, then cut up (break apart) and serve.

I am a big fan of Nutella.  BIG fan.  One day, my husband took a knife we had just used to spread Nutella, and then put some orange marmalade over it to see what I thought.  Because I love a chocolate and orange combination, I thought this was brilliant!  Michael said, "You should put this on one of your tarts!"  So I did.  This is delicious and I hope you will try it and love it, too!

1 and a half sticks of softened butter
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Process butter, flour and sugar in food processor then press by hand into a tart pan.  Bake at 350 for 12 minutes.  Remove from oven and add:

Nutella (about 1/2 cup)
1/2 cup orange marmalade
Orange slice

Spread Nutella over warm tart crust, then let cool.  In the microwave, heat 1/2 cup of orange marmalade.  Drizzle over the Nutella tart.  Top with a slice of orange in the center.
