Karli's Wicked Witch Cupcakes
12 Chocolate Sugar Cones Red, Black & Green Icing Dye 12 pieces of Candy Corn
12 Black Cupcake Papers 1 Bag of thin Black Licorice
Cupcake Pan 24 Brown M&M's
1. Start off by making Chocolate Cake
2 ½ cups all purpose flour 1 cup of butter, softened
1 t baking soda 1-½ cups of granulated sugar
½ t salt 3 large eggs
7oz semi-sweet chocolate 2 t pure vanilla extract
1 ½ cup of milk
-Preheat oven 350 degrees
-In large bowl combine and mix: flour, baking soda and salt
-In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and butter until completely melted. Stir continuously.
-Transfer melted chocolate and butter into a large mixing bowl, and using electric mixer, add sugar. Beat until well blended.
-Add vanilla, and one egg at a time until mixed well
-Finish by alternately adding flour mixture and milk, until the mixture is completely smooth. Put cupcake papers in pans fill with batter 3/4 full
-Bake for 20 minutes, and take out of oven. Let cool! Do not start icing until the cupcakes are completely cool!!
2. Once cupcakes are cool start by making icing
1 stick butter softened 5-7 T heavy cream
1 cup shortening 2 lb bag of confectioner's sugar
2 t clear vanilla extract
-Combine butter, shortening, vanilla, and 4T heavy cream in mixing bowl, mix well.
-Slowly adding confectioner's sugar, continue mixing until mixture is completely smooth. If needed to further cream mixture, add heavy cream 1 T at a time, until icing has desired texture.
-Dye icing Green while reserving 1 Cup to dye Black, and ½ Cup to dye Red
3. Ice each cupcake with green icing and make as smooth as possible. Once cupcakes are iced, set each cupcake on its side.
5. Witch Face
-Eyes-use 2 brown M&M's
-Nose-1 candycorn below eyes and ice with remaining green icing
-Hair-Black licorice, use desired amount, you can go thin or thick, use icing to set it in place
-Mouth-Using a #4 Tip and red icing make a mouth under the nose
-Warts-Using a #2 Tip and green icing make dots in desired place
6. Once the Witch's Face is complete, ice the circle of the Chocolate Sugar Cone and place it on top of cupcake
