Tennessee Tech's football team will play at national powerhouse Oregon during the 2012 season.
The Golden Eagles will visit Eugene, Ore., on Sept. 15, 2012, to play the Ducks, who are ranked No. 7 in the latest Bowl Championship Series, Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls.
"I think it will be a neat trip," said Tech football coach Watson Brown in a release. "Our kids haven't been west. We've traveled quite a bit, but we haven't been west. It's one of the very few places I've never been, so I'm looking forward to going."
Tennessee Tech opened the 2011 season with a loss at Big 10 member Iowa. In the past five years, the Golden Eagles have also played Auburn, Texas Christian, Arkansas, Louisville and Georgia.
"I don't think we would have grown in this program if we hadn't been playing these games," said Brown. "The dollars from these (FBS) games have given us the ability to do everything we've done here in the last few years with facilities, equipment and travel. Everything that we're doing, these are the dollars that we're spending."
