NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The man accused of taking his 12-year-old step-daughter from an Overton County home has been caught in Georgia and the girl found safe, law enforcement authorities said Friday afternoon.

Allen Wayne Harness was arrested in Dalton, GA, and 12-year-old Cassidy Dailey was recovered safely.

Harness allegedly took Dailey after he attacked the girl's mom, Christy Harness, with a knife around 12:30 a.m. Friday at Christy Harness' June Chapel Road, near Rickman, TN.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued an Amber Alert for Dailey, and the message was spread across the state and region.

Allen Harness is accused of violating a restraining order that prohibited any contact with Cassidy.

This summer, both Allen and Christy Harness were arrested for child neglect in July 2011 for the condition of their home.

Dailey and the five other children in the home will be taken into protective custody, according to the Overton County Sheriff's Office.

Allen Harness will be extradited to Tennessee to face charges in the attempted murder of Christy Harness.

Christy Harness was treated and released from an area hospital, Sgt. Jeremy Carr said.
