Spring Hill crematorium vote deferred for second time

Posted: Updated:

The Board of Mayor and Alderman have deferred the vote again for building a controversial crematorium in Spring Hill on Monday night.

Many in the area oppose the 3,600-square-foot building for specific health reasons, such as mercury emissions. It's been a hot-button issue now for months in the community.

Spring Hill announced it would fund a $9,000 study which would determine health effects, if any.

City officials have pushed back the vote until Nov. 22, when they will have the results of the study.

Spring Hill Memorial Park and Funeral Home proposed the crematorium which would be built on Main Street.
