Clarksville veteran loses lawsuit over 'The Hurt Locker'

Posted: Updated:

A bomb expert from Clarksville has lost his fight against the makers of an Academy Award-winning film.

Thursday, a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit filed by Sgt. Jeffrey Sarver.

Sarver is an Iraq war veteran and claimed the 2009 film The Hurt Locker was based on his experiences as a bomb disposal expert.

The screenwriter, Mark Boal, had written about Sarver and other bomb disposal experts in a 2004 article for Playboy magazine.

Sarver filed his suit against Boal, the producers and director Kathryn Bigelow days before the film won six Academy Awards in 2010, including best picture, best director and best original screenplay.
