Former Tennessee athletics director Mike Hamilton says he has accepted a job that will allow him to raise awareness about conditions in Africa.
Hamilton, who resigned as Tennessee athletic director in June after eight years in the position, will work as president of U.S. operations for Nashville-based Blood:Water Mission, a nonprofit that works to provide clean water and to fight the spread of HIV and AIDS in Africa.
Hamilton sought to get more involved with work in Africa after he, his wife Beth, daughter Madison and son Matthew welcomed Ethiopian siblings Kalu, Kiya and Nate into their family in the summer of 2009.
Hamilton resigned from Tennessee in the wake of an NCAA investigation into recruiting by former basketball coach Bruce Pearl and former football coach Lane Kiffin.
